The Arena District is home to the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Columbus Clippers, and live music, which draws tourists from all around Ohio. With that in mind, here are the top ten things to do in the Arena District before and after a concert or game, including riding a bike with CoGo, going bar hopping at R Bar or Half Pint, and eating at Veranico.

The Columbus Blue Jackets, a four-time Stanley Cup playoff contender and one of Columbus’ two major league sports teams, play at Nationwide Arena. If you happen to be in town, the NHL season usually spans from October through April. For added fun, the team’s on-site practice rink hosts public and private skating events.
The Columbus Clippers, Columbus’ minor league baseball team, play their games at Huntington Park (and a Cleveland Indians affiliate). Their season extends from April to September, making it ideal for those long summer nights and stunning views of the Downtown skyline.
Championship boxing, MMA events, and local festivals and conferences are all held at Nationwide Arena and Express Live! However, if you want to see a popular performer in Columbus, you’ll most likely be going to one of these venues.
Express Live! is an indoor/outdoor venue that hosts entertaining, gorgeous summer concerts replete with draft beer and Mikey’s Late Night Slice. Nationwide Arena is the Arena District’s main point, serving as the location for stadium tour stops, but it also hosts major events including the Arnold Classic, NCAA tournaments, and more.
The Basement and A&R Music Bar are the spots to go for a more subterranean scene. The Basement and A&R Bar, located in the same plaza as Express Live, present local and national acts in an intimate, authentic atmosphere.
The patio at A&R Music Bar is also open prior to shows at Express Live and other Arena District events for a relaxing respite in the midst of the action.
There are plenty of patios to visit on the way to a concert or a Blue Jackets game, but few have a distinct take on Mexican food like Nada or gourmet pizza pies like Boston’s. Add Gordon Biersch for brews and bratwurst to the list, and your pre- or post-game meal is complete.
