Where to Eat in Franklinton

September 8, 2021

Franklinton, located on the west bank of the Scioto River, across from downtown Columbus, is developing and changing. The Franklinton Arts District focuses on the neighborhood’s galleries, artist studios, and maker spaces, displaying them on the second Friday of each month during Franklinton Fridays. Here’s what you’ll find in Franklinton if you’re searching for coffee or a full breakfast, lunch, a night out for dinner, or a place to drink in between gallery visits!

Strongwater Food & Spirits:

Located on Town Street in a historic office and warehouse area, Strongwater is open for lunch and dinner most days. Arancini and grilled street corn are on the menu, as are fried chicken, jackfruit tacos, and mushroom risotto. The meal at Strongwater is easily adaptable to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.

BrewDog:

This Scottish brewery’s Franklinton location has a complete kitchen serving pub fare including burgers, wings, and tacos. With a large selection of BrewDog beers, as well as ground floor and rooftop patio spaces, it’s a popular hangout.

Land-Grant Brewing and Ray Ray’s Hog Pit:

The collegiate-themed Land-Grant offers a wide range of house-brewed beers, from IPAs and brown ales to rotating themed series and unusual collaboration beers. As an added bonus, a Ray Ray’s Hog Pit truck will be on-site to compliment your brews with their legendary brisket, jerk chicken, ribs, hot links, and all the sides.

Tommy’s Diner:

For more than 30 years, the family-owned Tommy’s Diner has served hearty breakfast and lunch to locals. Stop by and say hello to Tommy, Kathy, Michael, and the rest of the staff while you eat omelets, corned beef hash, gyros, and meatloaf in a typical diner setting.

Josie’s Pizza:

Since 1959, Josie’s has been delivering pizzas on West Broad Street. Pizza, subs, sandwiches, and snacks are available at this family-run establishment.

Red Door BBQ:

Featuring slow-roasted barbecue from a carryout window, Red Door serves daily specials such as burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, wings, and more, as well as sides such as beans, cole slaw, greens, mac & cheese, and more.

Bottoms Up Coffee:

Bottoms Up is a bakery and coffee store that serves overnight oats, empanadas, and sandwiches while also supporting families in the Franklinton neighborhood. They accomplish this by providing diapers to needy families and conducting community events.

Taft’s Brewporium:

This Cincinnati transplant has joined the Gravity development, with a large taproom where you can enjoy beer, games, New Haven-style pizzas, and plenty of unique bar snacks.

Roosevelt Coffeehouse

Roosevelt Coffeehouse is a popular spot for espresso, a pour over, a cappuccino, or a speciality latte. The shop serves coffee with a social purpose: profits from Roosevelt are used to support human trafficking initiatives or to raise funds to alleviate poverty and provide clean drinking water.

*COMING SOON* One Line Coffee:

One Line Coffee will open a third Columbus location, joining locations in the Short North and downtown on Capitol Square, selling pour overs, espresso drinks, and local foods. Their new Franklinton location will also have a larger food and beverage selection.
